About Me

Hi! My name is Kaitlyn. I am the mind, spirit, and muscle behind Fitness For Real People. I know there are so many fitness sites out there so I thank you for visiting mine! Fitness For Real People is, just that, fitness advice for R E A L people – people like you and I, perfectly imperfect people just trying to figure out how to incorporate fitness and health into a chaotic life.

Too often health and fitness is skewed due to the images we see in social media. We are made to think that “fit” people need to have 2% body fat, eat only lettuce and chicken breast, and do crazy workouts. When I started my own journey these pages just threw me deeper into a spiral of frustration and self-hate, until I had the moment that I knew I had to change the narrative. I wanted to bring a little bit of realness back to the online fitness industry.

So who am I and why should you listen to anything I have to say?

After years of struggling with body dysmorphia and eating disorders, I found the light… The light that was CrossFit. I can honestly say the CrossFit saved me; mentally, physically and emotionally. I found a passion so strong it was almost scary. I went from having the worst relationship with myself to the best. I went from feeling ashamed and weak to strong, proud, and confident. There are so many reasons I am thankful to have had CrossFit in my life but this is the most important one. CrossFit started my journey.

I went from Crossfitter to Crossfit trainer to … medical patient… But the old me would’ve let physical limitations stop me. The Kaitlyn that had years of Crossfit under her belt new she was more than a diagnosis. I went from Crossfitter to Yogi (with the occasional garage weight lifting sesh because I just couldn’t get away). I found a new strength, a new challenge. I realized that my passion wasn’t just Crossfit. My passion was fitness and health; and everything that came along with that.

So this yogi weight lifter ventured out onto her own path and, not long after, found out that path was going to take a sharp turn once again… As I traveled into the world of mom for the first time I discovered just how big of an impact this change was going to make on me; mentally, physically, and emotionally. I have never been more motivated and determined to help bring knowledge to everyone I can!

So moral of the story, I am just a new mom on her own fitness journey. I have coached various forms of fitness for a few years now and I have been researching and learning about fitness on my own for many years before that. I am a certified level-1 crossfit trainer, a Fit4Mom instructor, a certified Sports Psychology coach, an amateur chef, and a mom. I am sharing every bit of information I can, posting recipes, workouts, and info, and excited to meet great people along the way!
